Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in television, film and theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer from the Showtime show Soul Food. In the years following her marriage the actress is now known as Nikki Kodjoe. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent since childhood. In a Maryland high-school contest awarded her the best actress award. In the years following her work in theater, and with 'The Washington Ballet Company' she received a master's degree in acting from 'New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut role in a feature film earned her a lot of respect. It was then followed by films such as "Boogie Nights Spark, Blue Streak". Soul Food received a lot of praise for her work. Her appearances also appeared in TV shows such as Second Time Around" and Empire. In the beginning of her career, she appeared in several stage productions. Parker is a model with an political interest she is currently married to actor/model Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two kids.
Born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven. Contractor was well-informed about traveling around the globe and in a wide range of different cultures from a young age. Her education was at the boarding school of London between the ages of 7 and 9 years. Then, the family relocated from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is a specialized high school that teaches arts where she did not only study theater but danced and also. Contractor started acting at the age of 16, following nearly 10 years of dancing. As soon as she finished high school, she won a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed a Masters in Theatre and she also double-majored in Psychology and Sociology. Contractor landed her first role after a year of university. She received rave reviews for her performance in the 92 shows performed this play, which was named the production of the year by Canadian critics in 2002. She was invited to attend Stratford's conservatory, a program where only four men and eight females can attend the 20-week crash course of classical theater. Contractor received a guaranteed slot for the following season and was given the role of Hermia.
